HOW DO YOU BEND A BILLBOARD?
Metalbending mayhem hits Sunset Boulevard in Los Angeles!
To make a bold statement for Avatar: The Last Airbender Season 2, Netflix and SUPERHEROES took over a massive billboard on Sunset Blvd and transformed it into a mangled masterpiece.
Naturally, fans had one question: How did it get that way?
Following the success of our Season 1 digital street art campaign featuring Appa, we teamed up once again with JIMMY artist @ShutterAuthorityโthis time bringing Toph Beifong's legendary metalbending powers into the real world.
The result is a hyper-realistic digital street art film that tells the billboard's origin story, on its first day already organically generating over 1 MILLION VIEWS.
Toph comes to life on the billboard and drops into her signature stance. The metal frame twists and bends around her. The billboard tears apart as paper and debris fall to the street below. When the dust settles, Toph stands among the wreckage.
And the best part?
The billboard is real.

Today, a physically bent Avatar billboard sits on Sunset Blvd looking exactly like it does in the film. It's a spectacular piece of work created by Midnight Oil. A great example of how IRL and URL can be combined into something people can watch, share, and talk about!
