Reversing the rules of nature with Netflix One Piece
With Season 2 of One Piece debuting on March 10, the challenge wasn’t simply to announce the release, it was to create a moment, something that stops the scroll, sparks conversation, and brings the scale of the series into the real world.
SuperHeroes partnered with Netflix and JIMMY to bring one of the most iconic, reality-bending elements of the One Piece universe into the real world.
Reverse Mountain, Reimagined
At the heart of Season 2 is Reverse Mountain–a place where the rules of nature flip. We wanted to translate that same spectacle into a real-world setting by doing exactly that.
The film opens on a normal city street, shot handheld, grounded in reality, until something feels off. Water begins to take over, but instead of falling, it flows with intention, climbing upward. We follow it as the camera tilts to reveal the impossible: an entire skyscraper transformed into a vertical river.
Riding this gravity-defying current is the Going Merry, sailing up the side of the building. Leading the charge is Monkey D. Luffy, whose arms stretch skyward, latching onto the rooftop and holding the ship in place.
Crafting the Impossible
Brazil-based VFX and mixed reality artist Gabriel Benicio made the impossible believable. With unmatched skills in water physics, he helped create a scene that feels hyper-realistic, bringing the wild logic of One Piece into our world.
Expanding the World of One Piece
More than just a launch, this video is an extension of the One Piece universe into our own. It takes a location fans love, reinterprets it through a real-world lens, and delivers on the promise that this story is bigger than the screen.
The video quickly gained traction across social media, generating over 1.2M views and 87.4K engagements, all organically.
Because when you’re building hype for something as imaginative as One Piece, you don’t just tell people it’s back… you make them feel it.
